Question about band masks peeling off mid-dive

I keep seeing guys at the dock using cheap silicone grease on their band mask seals and then wondering why they leak after 20 minutes. Has anyone else had luck with the AquaSeal paste instead of the generic stuff?

I used that cheap silicone grease once on my Oceanic brand mask and it peeled off after about 15 minutes in 50 degree water. Switched to AquaSeal paste last year and its night and day - that stuff stays put for the whole dive even in cooler water. I had a leak around the nose pocket on my old mask and the AquaSeal fixed it right up after one application. Just make sure you clean the seal real good with soap first or it wont stick.

Yeah "night and day" is right, once you use the good stuff you never go back.
