Question about running comms lines through a contaminated lockout chamber

I keep seeing guys on this job site in Port Arthur running their comms cables right through the same opening as the air hose into a chamber that had a chemical spill last week. Are people not realizing that cross-contamination can mess up both your air quality reading AND your communication signal? Who else has dealt with this kind of setup failing mid-dive?

That Port Arthur site had my comms cutting out and the air tasting like solvent after they ran the lines together.

Man, I had a similar thing happen once where my mic picked up this weird electrical hum and my coffee started tasting like pennies. Couldn't tell if it was the gear or if I just needed to brush my tongue.

Reminds me of the time a bad ground loop made my headphones smell like burnt toast, weird how that happens.
