Tried the new Kirby Morgan band mask on a 50-foot job in Galveston
Figured I'd upgrade to the band mask for easier comms. First dive, seal popped on the left side at 30 feet. Water shot straight into my face. Had to abort the whole weld inspection. Learned to always test new gear in the tank first before paying jobs. Anyone else have bad luck with band masks leaking?

Respectfully, I gotta push back on the idea that it was the pressure that shifted the seal. Tbh, most band mask leaks I've seen come from the strap being too loose or the skirt not sitting right before you even hit the water. Ngl, testing in the tank helps but you also gotta crank that tension down way more than you'd think.

The band mask I tried two years ago on a pipeline job in 40 feet had the same issue with the seal on the opposite side. It felt like it was seated fine on the surface but the pressure change at depth made it shift. Did you check if the silicone skirt was fully dry and free of any grease or sand before you strapped it on?
