Debate: Should you push firmware updates ASAP or wait for other people to find the bugs first?
My buddy Dave the network admin says always update day one to patch security holes, but I had a printer go offline for 6 hours after a bad Dell BIOS update last month, who else has gotten burned by rushing updates versus waiting too long?

Ah, that's the million dollar question. I've noticed it's like waiting for a new phone update - you want the new features and security, but you don't want your phone to suddenly run slow or lose battery life. For me, I usually wait about a week now unless it's a critical security patch, just to let the early adopters find the landmines.

Has anyone actually checked what happens to their phone's resale value when they're running an older OS version? I casually tested this last year and my old phone with a recent security patch sold for way more than a friend's identical model that was two updates behind. That extra cash almost makes the minor update annoyances worth it.
