Dropped $60 on a USB port tester kit and it only caught one bad board out of nine
Bought one of those little USB port tester kits from a parts site after seeing it in a bench video. The guy made it look like a cheat code. Spent $60 shipped. It sat in my bag for two months and I used it on nine boards that came in with dead ports. It flagged one. One! And that one turned out to be a bent pin I could already see with a flashlight. The rest were all cracked solder joints or a dead controller on the board, which the tester cannot see anyway. So I am out 60 bucks and I still poke at pins with a needle and a multimeter. Anyone got a bench tool they regret buying like that? I want to know I am not the only sucker here.
