Had a client last week who insisted on using a cheap power supply from a no-name brand
Three years ago, I would have just installed it to make them happy. Last month, I saw a system fry because of a similar unit. This time in Tampa, I told them it was a bad idea and showed them a Corsair unit for $80. They got mad and said I was upselling. Has anyone else had to argue with a client over a part that you know will cause problems?

Ever had someone fight you on a part that's basically a fire hazard? I've stopped installing junk that I know will fail, even if they get upset. It's just not worth the call back or the fried hardware.

Used to think I was doing people a favor by saving them a few bucks. Then a cheap thermostat I installed melted its own wiring. The smell alone was enough to change my whole outlook on using the right parts.

Wait they got mad over an $80 Corsair unit? That's like the bare minimum for something that won't burn your house down lol. I can't believe they'd even want to risk their whole computer to save what, twenty bucks? Some people just see the price tag and nothing else. You did the right thing telling them no.
