Had a customer tell me my cable ties were too tight on their server rack, what side are you on?

They argued loose bundles help airflow and make swaps easier, but I was taught tight and tidy prevents snags during maintenance, which way do you lean after getting feedback like that?

Man, tight and tidy all the way. Had a guy argue the same thing with me about a rack full of network switches, said his loose bundles made it "breathe" better. Next thing you know, someone's elbow catches a loop during a drive replacement and yanks a whole patch cable out of the port. Snags and tangles are way more of a hassle than a little extra airflow. Your mileage may vary, but I've never had a cable fail from being too snug, just from being in the way.

Wait, @garcia.wren, didn't you used to be a loose bundle guy too? I did, until I accidentally created a mess that took an hour to untangle, so yeah, you changed my mind.

Used to be team loose bundle myself. Then one cable snagged on a server rail and pulled a drive offline mid-migration. Never again.
