Hit 50 clean BIOS flashes in a row without bricking anything
Everyone talks about how risky flashing a BIOS is, but I just crossed 50 straight successful updates without a single failure. Mostly Dell OptiPlex systems for a school district refresh. Anyone else find this whole 'scary BIOS flash' thing overblown?

Use a UPS. Had a power blip take out a board once back in 2012, never again. Plug the machine into a battery backup, wait for the flash to finish, then unplug. Avoids the whole heartbreak of a dead motherboard from a flicker.

Did a buddy of yours ever brick an old HP trying to flash it?

Oh man, this hits hard. A buddy of mine, Dave, tried flashing an old HP ProBook 6400 with a custom BIOS to unlock some hidden settings. He followed every guide to the letter, didn't miss a step. Then the power flickered for like half a second, just enough to kill the update. That laptop never turned on again, just a black screen with a flashing cursor. He spent three weekends trying different recovery methods, holding down every key combo you can think of. Ended up gutting it for parts and throwing the motherboard in the trash.
