Just dealt with a string of laptops killed by cheap power adapters

Honestly, had three come in this week alone with fried charging circuits. Tbh, all of them were using off-brand adapters that looked legit but weren't. Ngl, it's getting annoying explaining to people why saving twenty bucks wrecks their machine. Now I keep a toasted motherboard on the counter as a warning.

Wait, three in one week? That's actually insane. I figured maybe one every few months but that's just a flood of broken machines. People really have no idea how badly those fake bricks can mess things up.

Ugh, tell me about it. I feel like I should know better, but I've totally been that person using a sketchy adapter in a pinch. I'm basically the human version of those cheap chargers, saving a few bucks but possibly dangerous at parties. It's wild how something so simple can just cook a whole machine. Keeping that dead board on display is a solid move, a little scary proof goes a long way.

Feel that guilt deep in my soul because we've all taken that risky shortcut. I once fried a keyboard with a dollar store power supply and learned the hard way. Your display idea is honestly genius for fighting that temptation.
