Tried that trick with the hairdryer on a swollen laptop battery

Saw it on a forum and was sure it was a bad idea, but after a stuck battery in a 3 year old Dell wouldn't budge, I gave it 30 seconds of low heat and it popped right out. Anyone got a safer method they use for that specific issue?

My friend Mark tried that exact thing on his old MacBook last year. He used a hairdryer for maybe 45 seconds on low. It worked, but the battery felt weirdly warm for over an hour afterwards. He got it out but was honestly scared he'd damaged something inside. I would be way too nervous to try it myself, the whole idea gives me major anxiety. There has to be a better way that doesn't involve heat near a puffy battery.

Wait you used a hairdryer on a battery? That sounds like a great way to start a small fire.

Did he ever get that battery checked out?
