Hit 5000 square feet in a single pour last week and my crew still hates me
We did a warehouse slab in Phoenix, 5000 sq ft, 6 inch thick. I pushed everyone to finish it in one go without a cold joint. Took 14 hours straight and my finishers were ready to walk. We got it done but the surface had some birdbaths I had to patch later. Anyone else gamble on a big single pour and regret pushing the team that hard?

Did you guys even stop for lunch or were you just running on Monster and spite for 14 hours straight? I'm curious if the crew had a heads up on what they were getting into or if you dropped the big pour on them morning of. Honestly though, those birdbaths sound like the real price you paid for skipping the cold joint. Was it worth saving the time on a joint versus the headache of patching later?

@the_riley my buddy did a similar pour and said the crew ate gas station burritos in shifts, not worth the birdbaths later.

Did you tell the crew it was gonna be a 14 hour day before they showed up or did you just spring it on them after the truck showed...
