I finally stopped fighting bleed water by covering the pour with burlap sacks, saved my June slab
Back in early June I poured a 24 by 30 patio out in Fresno and the wind was gusting about 15 mph all morning, which pulled the bleed water off faster than I could keep up with. My foreman Al keeps a stack of old burlap sacks in the trailer and he told me to soak them and lay them down right after I finished floating, which I had never tried before. I did it on half the slab and left the other half bare so I could see the difference, and by the next morning the covered side had zero plastic cracks while the bare side had three hairline ones near the edges. The sacks cost next to nothing since we get them from a feed store on Maple Ave, and I just had to keep them wet with a garden sprayer through the afternoon. Anyone else still using burlap on hot windy days, or have you switched to some kind of spray-on cure and forget about it?
