Just blew $400 on a 'self-leveling' laser that couldn't handle a slight breeze on a driveway job.
Bought it for a big stamped concrete patio we were setting up. The specs said it was good for outdoor use, but even a little wind kept knocking it off by an eighth of an inch. Had to stop and re-level it like six times an hour. Ended up going back to my old manual level and string lines to finish the pour. Total waste of a morning and that cash. Anyone have a laser they actually trust outside?

Ever think maybe you just got a bad unit? My cheap one handles wind fine if I weigh the tripod down with a sandbag.

My Bosch survived a Chicago job site gust.

Survived one gust and you think it's tough? How many times has it been dropped off a ladder or left out in the rain? A single windy day isn't a real test, it's just luck. Real job site gear gets beat up every single day for years. Your saw got lucky once, that doesn't prove anything about how it will hold up next month.

Real job site gear gets beat up every day for years" is exactly it @oliver_baker49... people just don't think about how a product holds up over time anymore, not just on the first good day. It's like how everyone buys a cheap phone case and calls it rugged until it cracks the second time they drop it. We're all so focused on first impressions we forget that real durability only shows after months of actual use.
