Met a guy in Omaha who swore by a 4-foot bull float for everything
He was finishing a big warehouse floor and told me 'a 6-footer just makes you lazy, you lose the feel.' I've used a 6-foot for years on slabs over 20 yards and it saves my back. Anyone else stick with a longer float for bigger jobs?

Totally get where you're coming from with the back pain. My old boss was the same way about smaller tools, but after a full day on a big slab, that extra reach is a lifesaver. You gotta find what works for your body and the job. Sometimes the "right" tool is the one that lets you walk the next day.

My uncle's a mason and he swears by a 12 inch trowel for everything, even small jobs. He'd probably argue with you and @beng51 about it all day lol. Says it's all in the wrist.

Ever think his wrist might just be used to the weight, not the size?
