Shoutout to the crew that talked me out of buying a cheap power trowel
I almost dropped $1,200 on a new 'budget' brand power trowel I saw online last fall. The specs looked fine on paper, right? A couple guys on a different job site saw me looking at it and straight up told me it would shake itself apart in a season. I listened and bought a used Allen model instead for $800 more. Just saw the same cheap one for sale, broken, in a pawn shop last week. How many of you have been saved from a bad tool buy by someone else's advice?

My neighbor saved me from a cheap table saw that would have been a total waste.

Cheap saws can cost more than money.

Buddy of mine bought a bargain bin circular saw. The thing kicked back on a simple cut and sent a piece of plywood straight into his shin. He was limping for a week, and the saw burned out its motor the next day.

So your neighbor basically did a home improvement intervention? That's a real friend, stopping you before you bought a tool that would either quit on you or try to take a finger. Some of those cheap saws sound angrier than a hornet's nest when you turn them on. You definitely win on that deal, saving money and probably a future trip to the emergency room.
