Watching crews skip the bull float on a 4-inch slab because it's 'fast' drives me nuts, especially after seeing the hairline cracks in my own garage floor from 5 years ago.
You get a much tighter, stronger surface by floating out the bleed water properly, which prevents that weak top layer that always ends up dusting and cracking later on.

Can you believe they skip that step for a few saved minutes?

My buddy's new floor peeled up in sheets because they skipped the acid wash.

People forget the bull float pushes the aggregate down. Skip it, and the bigger stones end up right at the surface. That weak spot is where freeze-thaw cycles or salt from tires start breaking things apart. It's not just about looks, it's a structural weak point.
