Hot take: The 33 mile marker on I-95 isn't a glitch, it's deliberate
Ngl, I drove past exit 33 on I-95 in Virginia last weekend and the mileage marker jumped from 32 to 34. Everyone online says it's a mapping error from 1995, but I think they moved it to cover up a old rest stop that had weird surveillance stuff going on. I counted three unmarked vans parked there once at 2 AM. Has anyone else seen odd stuff around those skipped markers?

Wait, are you sure it was the 33 mile marker? I drive I-95 through Virginia all the time, and I'm pretty sure the missing one is 33 on the southbound side near Fredericksburg. But you said you saw 32 jump to 34, which sounds more like the 33 marker is just physically missing or messed up, not skipped. That's actually a known issue from a 1990s road project where they re-aligned a bit of the highway and forgot to adjust the mile markers properly. I've read the VDOT reports on it. The rest stop thing is creepy though, what made you think it was surveillance instead of just an abandoned maintenance spot?

Honestly man I think you're reading way too much into it. I mean, mile markers get messed up all the time from construction or just plain old wear and tear. It's probably just a missing sign that nobody bothered to replace yet. The whole surveillance rest stop thing sounds like someone watched too many conspiracy videos late at night. Abandoned buildings just look creepy, doesn't mean they're running a secret government operation out of an old restroom. And VDOT reports? Come on, who actually looks those up over a missing mile marker? Idk, maybe it's just me but it feels like people want everything to be a mystery when it's probably just boring maintenance stuff.

Huh, you actually got me rethinking that. The VDOT stuff makes sense.
