My uncle swore the water tower by the Route 9 exit was hiding a cell tower, and last month I finally climbed up there with him
For about 4 years every family cookout turned into him going on about how the old tank in Flanders was never actually decommissioned and the town was just covering for a carrier. I always laughed it off as classic uncle stuff. Then last month he got the ok from a guy he knows on the public works crew and we walked up the access road around 7am. There were 6 antennas and a stack of equipment cabinets bolted to the catwalk, all labeled with stickers that matched a major carrier. He just stood there with his arms crossed like he'd won the lottery. So now I have to ask, how many of you have gone and actually checked one of these things yourself?
Six antennas? That's not some little backup setup, that's a full on carrier install sitting right out in the open for anyone to see. I drive past that Flanders tank all the time and never once looked up close enough to catch the cabinets. Your uncle spent 4 years getting laughed at and he was right the whole time, that has to feel amazing.
