PSA: People keep mixing up the 'debate' part with just sharing theories

Honestly, I see it all the time here. Someone posts a wild claim about, say, the 1997 Phoenix Lights, but they don't bring any evidence to actually debate it. The whole point is to argue the facts, not just list conspiracies. How do you get people to actually engage with the counter-arguments?

Honestly when you say "big deal" it depends on what you're talking about. If it's about the new policy, it means a longer wait for everyone. That seems like a pretty big deal to me.

Yeah, the "just sharing theories" thing drives me nuts. My buddy tried to argue the moon landing was fake at a party, but when someone brought up the reflector arrays left up there, he just changed the subject to astronauts hearing music. Didn't engage with the point at all.
