I got tired of the same talking heads spinning every story, so I started pulling up expired patents from the 1960s and 70s that supposedly reveal how media tech was designed. Turns out, a 1971 patent for a TV ratings box basically predicted how networks push panic to keep you watching. Cross-referencing that with declassified FCC memos from 1983 showed me patterns in scheduling that are still in play today. Anyone else found a boring government document that rewired how they watch the news?
