The Denver UFO conference in 2011 reshaped my whole approach to debunking

I used to jump straight to explanations whenever someone brought up strange lights or odd craft stories. Then I went to that big gathering at the Denver Convention Center and watched a panel of retired pilots talk about what they saw in the 1990s. One guy said 'proving it's a balloon doesn't prove what it was doing at 40,000 feet' and that stuck with me hard. Now I slow down, ask about the context of the sighting first, and try to map out all the possible causes before I open my mouth. Has anyone else had a single talk or encounter that flipped how they look at evidence in this hobby?

Wait, a pilot actually said that on stage in 2011 and you just casually drop that line like it's nothing? That single sentence would've made me question every debunk I'd ever done too.
