Tried grounding my food processor and now my hummus is way creamier
I read some random post in a kitchen gear forum about static building up in plastic bowls and how it messes with emulsification, so I wrapped a copper wire around the base and touched it to my sink pipe while blending. Ngl, the texture difference was actually noticeable, like the chickpeas actually broke down smoother instead of turning into that weird gritty paste. Has anyone else tested this kind of grounding hack on blending or mixing?

Oh man, I just realized I've been making my hummus wrong this whole time! I tried your grounding trick yesterday with an old wire from a broken lamp and now my food processor sounds like it's powered by a dying tractor. I can't tell if my hummus is actually creamier or if I'm just shocked into believing it works. Either way, at least my dip isn't gritty anymore.

Pretty sure you're not supposed to use random lamp wire for that, that's how you get actual shocks not creamy hummus lol. The grounding trick is more about using a metal bowl or touching the metal part of your processor, not rigging up old electrical stuff. You might have just scared your appliance into working better honestly. But hey if the hummus is smooth and you didn't fry anything, I guess it counts as a win.

Are you saying the lamp wire actually made a difference in the texture or did it just make a loud noise that scared the chickpeas into submission? I'm genuinely curious because I tried clipping a ground wire to my blender's metal base once and all I got was a weak hum and some smoky smell. That hummus was definitely not creamy, it was more like lumpy paste. Did you check if the wire was actually copper or just some cheap aluminum stuff? Because that could explain why it sounded like a tractor and why the hummus might have been more about luck than proper grounding. I mean, if your dip came out smooth and you didn't blow a fuse, maybe you stumbled onto something but I'd be careful next time.
