Dropped $1,200 on a mini excavator attachment that sat in my yard for 8 months
I grabbed a used hydraulic breaker for my 3 ton excavator off a guy in Bakersfield for $1,200 because I figured I would need it on a demo job that never came through. It sat behind my shop for 8 months, leaked fluid on my gravel, and when I finally tried to sell it I got offered $400. Am I the only one who buys stuff for the job I think is coming instead of the one I actually have?
The breaker losing pressure while it sits isn't a given, but seals do dry out and crack when they never see oil. You might get lucky and it just needs the nitrogen charge topped off, which is cheap. The $400 offer is about right though, nobody wants a mystery breaker with no service history. If it still runs, it's worth a couple hundred more than that.
