GC in San Antonio killed my framing crew off one bad laser measurement
Was laying out wall plates on a Friday afternoon job in San Antonio and the GC's guy marked the first line 3/4 inch off with his laser, so every stud after that drifted. I caught it when my tape read 47 and a quarter instead of 48 on the third wall, and instead of ripping it all out I made him bring his level over and we checked the laser against a chalk line right there. He tried to blame my tape until the laser read the same number twice on a known 10 foot run. Now I keep a 25 foot chalk box in the truck and snap a reference line before anybody fires up a laser. How do you guys handle it when the guy signing the checks is the one who messed up the layout?

Heard a guy on a podcast say always snap your own line first, no matter who's paying.
