Heard a guy at the supply house say he never read his liability waivers

I was picking up lumber at Builders Mart yesterday and overheard a roofer telling his buddy he just signs whatever the GC puts in front of him. He said he hasn't read a single waiver in 8 years of business. That scared me because I just got burned on a job where I skimmed a contract and missed a clause about paying for damage out of my own pocket. Have you ever gotten hit by something you didn't catch in a waiver?

My older brother runs a crew and got burned bad a couple years back. He started making a habit of pulling out his phone and taking a picture of every waiver he signs, right then and there. Its not perfect but it gives him a record to go back to if something pops up later. Helps a ton when youre trying to remember what you actually agreed to.

Taking a picture is fine until a real legal fight happens and your phone "mysteriously" gets wiped or you lose it. The paper trail only matters if you can actually prove the waiver you show is the one you signed and not some edited version. Plus a lot of those waivers have fine print saying digital copies aren't official, so you're back to square one. Better to just know the basics of what you're signing before you put pen to paper in the first place.
