I finally stopped relying on my memory for material takeoffs
Back in 2021 I used to eyeball lumber lists on a 2,400 sq ft addition in Spokane and just order what felt right. Got burned twice that fall, once with 14 extra sheets of plywood and once short on 2x6s by 9 pieces mid-framing. Now I punch every measurement into a simple spreadsheet before I even call the supplier, takes me 20 extra minutes but saves me a return trip and a angry phone call with the yard. Anybody else made the switch to digital takeoffs or you still trusting gut numbers on jobs?

My buddy Jimmy once ordered 3,000 lbs of nails for a shed.
