Pro tip: That $50 moisture meter I bought on Amazon saved my bacon on a bathroom reno in Phoenix

I spent $50 on a pinless moisture meter after a buddy told me I was crazy for not owning one. It caught a wet subfloor under brand new tile that would have rotted out in 6 months. Has anyone else had a cheap tool pay for itself on the first job like that?

Phoenix humidity is low enough that mold growth there is usually slower than you'd expect.

Guess my old bathroom sponge would have survived forever out there then. I left it in a damp corner for a week and it turned into a science experiment with its own zip code. Meanwhile my cactus collection is thriving, go figure. Dry heat is a weird magic trick for some things and a complete failure for others.

Wait, did that meter save you more money than it cost?
