The homeowner who stood over my shoulder with a laser level the entire job

Two weeks ago I'm doing a tile backsplash in a kitchen in Tacoma, and this guy literally pulls up a stool and watches me for 5 straight hours. He keeps saying 'I read that grout lines should be exactly 1/8 inch' every 20 minutes like I didn't measure it the first time. Around hour three I took a break and he asked if he could borrow my chalk line to check if the ceiling was level, which it obviously wasn't, that's a 1950s house. I finally snapped and asked if he wanted to hold the trowel, and he just laughed and said 'no, I paid for you to do that.' Has anyone else had a customer that dense about letting you work, or am I the only one who ends up feeling like a zoo animal?
