Unpopular opinion: cleaning my condenser coils with a shop vac beats the $40 coil brush kit from the supply house
Pulled 2 inches of dog hair and matted dust out of a rental unit's condenser in 10 minutes with a $60 Rigid vac and a brush attachment, while the fancy fin tool just pushed crud deeper between the fins, so now I want to know if anyone here has found a vac setup that gets the back side of the coil without pulling the fan.

Would a longer crevice tool with a 90 degree bend actually reach down behind the fan without pulling it? I've been messing with this same problem on a couple rentals and here's what worked for me. I took a cheap flexible dryer vent brush, taped it to a piece of PEX, and fed it down the back gap so the bristles knock the fuzz loose from the inside while the vac hose sits on the front side pulling it through. The trick is doing both at once, because if you only push from the back you just shove the matted hair deeper into the fins like you said. I also dropped the vac down to a lower setting or cracked the hose to bleed air so it doesn't suck the fins flat. Still not as good as splitting the coil, but for a quick turnaround it beats pulling the fan on every unit. Curious if the bend idea holds up or if the airflow just dies by the time it gets back there.
