Walked into a flooded crawlspace in Baton Rouge and my boots saved the day
Back in March I was doing a termite inspection on a raised house off Perkins Road and opened the crawl hatch to find about 4 inches of standing water. I almost climbed down in my sneakers, but grabbed my tall rubber boots and a headlamp first. Turns out the sump pump float was stuck and the homeowner had no clue. I shut off the feed, pulled the float, and it kicked on and drained in about 20 minutes. We wrote it up as a repair and they were so happy they gave us the full re-pipe job. What's your go-to gear you won't get under a house without?
