Been cutting drywall with a utility knife for 15 years...

I was helping a buddy in Nashville frame a basement last weekend and he hands me a drywall saw for a cutout. Took me like 30 seconds to do what I used to fight with a knife for 5 minutes on. Did any of you grow up using the wrong tool and just never think to switch?

Why do you think it took you so long to make the switch though? I mean, 15 years is a long time to keep fighting with a knife when there's a better tool just sitting at Home Depot... Maybe it's just the stubbornness of doing things the way you were first taught. I know plenty of guys who still insist on scoring and snapping drywall instead of just using a saw for a cleaner cut.

Oh hold on real quick, scoring and snapping is actually cleaner for long straight cuts on drywall. The saw is better for cutouts and weird angles but for a full sheet, scoring it gives you a straighter edge. I learned that the hard way haha.
