Customer said my chalk lines were crooked, made me redo 3 rooms
Last month in Austin, a homeowner watched me snap lines for tile and said "these are off by a quarter inch" right in front of my helper. I always trusted my eyes over the laser, now I check every line with a straight edge before setting anything.

That quarter inch thing is wild cause most people cant even see that unless theyre staring right at it. But once a customer calls it out you gotta respect it or theyll never trust anything else you do in the house. I had a guy pull out his own digital level once and check every single outlet cover, made me realize some folks just have that eye and you cant argue with it. Now I carry a 6 foot level in the truck at all times and I use it on every damn line, even the ones that look perfect. Honestly its made my work better, and the extra ten seconds per line beats redoing a whole floor any day.
