Just found out my torque wrench is off by 15 ft-lbs after 3 years of use

Man that's rough, my buddy's wrench was almost 20 ft-lbs off after a couple years and it messed up half his engine bolts.

Can't believe it was off by that much after just a couple years. I always figured torque wrenches drifted a little, but twenty foot-pounds seems like a huge jump to me. Hope your buddy got lucky and didn't have to pull the whole engine apart.

@angela728 Another thing to consider is temperature changes can throw them off too if you store them in a garage.
