Just learned my rotary hammer bit needs grease every 20 holes

I was reading the manual on my Bosch RH328VC last night and found out they recommend greasing the shank after every 20 uses. I've been running mine bone dry for about 6 months here in Denver. Anyone else skip this step or am I the only one?

Denver here too. 20 holes is like 2 days for me so I definitely did not follow that either.

Wait, you've been running it dry for 6 months? Dude, @dakota_miller93 is right, that's like daily use for us here in Denver. I learned the hard way too - just toss a little moly paste on the shank every time you swap bits, not just every 20 holes. Your chuck will thank you later.

Actually check your manual again, it's 20 uses not 20 holes. The difference matters because one "use" could be drilling a dozen holes if you're doing anchors, or it could be one single hole through slab. I run a RH328VC same as you and I grease the shank every time I swap the bit out basically. Ran mine dry for two months when I first got it and the chuck started getting stiff. Smear a little moly paste on the shank near the collar not down on the tip area where the carbide is.

Read somewhere that Milwaukee actually updated the manual on the newer models to clarify the 20 uses rule, so at least they heard the confusion. Makes sense when you think about it though, since drilling a dozen anchor holes in soft concrete is way different than one deep hole in reinforced slab. You check the bit for heat buildup between uses or just grease and go?
