My Chicago basement hack job vs a real trenchless pipe repair, 2 days and $700 later
Had a sewer backup two weeks ago. Rented a cheap auger from Home Depot, thought I could clear it myself. Took me 8 hours of fighting roots, snapped a cable, got sprayed in the face with the worst water you've ever seen. Called a plumber who used one of those trenchless pull heads. He was done in 3 hours, no digging, no mess. Cost me $620 but the old way almost cost me a weekend and my sanity. Anyone else tried to DIY a drain line and regret it?
