My laser level gave me grief for 3 hours before I found the trick

I was setting cabinets in a kitchen remodel over on Maple Street and kept fighting with my laser level drifting out of line. Took me way too long to realize the tripod was sitting on a slightly soft spot in the subfloor, so every time I moved around it shifted a tiny bit. Has anyone else had that problem and found a better way to stabilize the legs?

Throw some thick rubber mats under the tripod legs, that fixed it for me.

yeah evan_grant70 mentioned rubber mats and i actually saw a flooring guy on youtube say the same thing. he put those interlocking foam mats under his tripod on tile and it stopped the legs from sliding around completely. seems like a cheap fix that beats fighting with it for hours.

Try those rubber mats on concrete too or just on subfloors? I've always figured rubber would slide around more on smooth surfaces.
