Pro tip: Pegboards beat toolboxes for easy access

Many people spend a lot on metal toolboxes. I say pegboards are the smarter choice. When I organized my workshop, I put up a large pegboard. Now all my tools are in plain sight. I never waste time searching for a screwdriver. The wall stays neat and my work goes smooth. For any home repair job, this setup helps a lot.

Totally get the appeal, but my pegboard would just judge me. I put one up, then my system fell apart fast. Now it holds a lonely hammer and a dust coat, while every screwdriver I own is buried in a drawer. I spent ten minutes yesterday looking for a tape measure that was in my back pocket. I guess I'm just a toolbox guy by default.

@beng51, you searched for ten minutes with the tape measure in your back pocket? That's crazy! I've totally been there when my setup falls apart. Maybe pegboards aren't for everyone, and a toolbox is just fine.

My garage had a pegboard for years thinking it was the right system. Turns out the best place for a tool is just wherever you last used it.
