Question about using a basic impact driver versus a high-torque model for deck screws

Honestly, after burning out a standard model trying to drive 3-inch screws into pressure-treated lumber for a deck in Atlanta last month, switching to a high-torque brushless driver got the whole job done without a single stall and saved me about 2 hours of frustration, so has anyone else found that specific tool power really matters for certain materials?

Totally agree. My old driver would just click and give up on those thick deck screws. Upgraded to a brushless model and the difference was night and day. It sinks those long screws into wet lumber like it's nothing. The right tool for the job isn't just a saying, it's a real time and effort saver.

Learned that lesson the hard way with some old joists. My basic driver just gave up and started smoking like a cheap cigar. Now I keep the big gun for anything over two inches, especially that wet pressure treated stuff. Saves your arms and your sanity.

What drill do you use for the big stuff now?
