The moment my cordless drill battery died mid-hanger in a crawl space

I was under a house in Charlotte, drilling a pilot hole for a new pipe strap, when my main Makita 18V just quit. I had to crawl all the way back to the truck to grab the spare, which wasted about twenty minutes. What's your go-to backup plan when a tool fails on you like that?

Honestly, that's just part of the job. You should always have your spare on your belt from the start.

My buddy got stuck on a roof when his impact driver died. Now he tapes a spare battery to his tool belt.

Honestly, that's why my tool bag sounds like a maraca with all the extra batteries rolling around. Taping one to your belt seems smart until you need to actually move. Guess we all learn the hard way.

Charlotte crawl spaces are a special kind of purgatory. This battery thing is just the modern version of running out of nails or forgetting your chalk line. We spend so much time trying to plan for every little failure, but something always finds a way to go wrong at the worst possible moment. It feels less like a trade skill and more like managing a tiny, personal logistics company that's always one dead battery from chaos.
