The OSHA stat that flipped my view on older corded tools

So I was reading through the 2024 OSHA hand tool report and found that roughly 40% of job site injuries from tools happen with cordless models under 5 years old. I always assumed the old beat up corded drills were the danger, but the data points to battery fatigue and user error with newer gear. Ngl, I've got a 30 year old Makita that outlasts anything I bought last year, but maybe the real problem is we trust the new stuff too much and skip the basics. Anyone else notice their crews treat fresh tools like they're indestructible, or am I just working with the wrong guys?
