Wrote off oscillating multi-tools for 6 years, then a $12 blade changed my mind
I always figured my sawzall and a chisel could handle anything a multi-tool does, so I skipped buying one for 6 years. Then I had to undercut a bunch of door jambs for new flooring in a house in Reno, and a buddy handed me his with a carbide blade, and it cut clean in about 4 seconds per jamb with zero tearout. What job finally made you admit a tool you'd been badmouthing was actually worth the money?
That line about the carbide blade cutting clean in 4 seconds per jamb really hits home. I did the same thing with my dad's old multi-tool for years, kept telling myself my chisel and hammer were just as fast. Then I had to notch out a bunch of baseboard around door casings and outlets in a rental I was fixing up, and a flush cut blade saved me from pulling half the trim off the wall. Watching it slice through a nail I missed still makes me laugh at how stubborn I was.
