Client ghosted me after using my logo, and PayPal closed the case in 20 minutes
Back in 2019 I did a logo for a guy starting a coffee cart in Portland. Charged $350, sent the files after he paid half. He promised the rest in a week. Then nothing. Three emails, two texts, one voicemail. A buddy sent me a photo last weekend and there's my logo on his cart at a Saturday market, same colors, same little steam swirl, he didn't even change the font. I filed a claim with PayPal and they shut it down in 20 minutes, said services aren't covered. So I called a lawyer, and she laughed and said $175 isn't worth an hour of her time, let alone a filing fee. It stings less than it did when I started out, since at least now I know to take the full amount up front and keep a paper trail. Anyone here actually gotten money out of a deadbeat client without going to court? What did it take?
