Had a chat with a lawyer that made me ditch my watermark strategy

I always watermark my previews super heavy, but this IP lawyer I met at a coffee shop in Denver said it actually makes it easier for clients to claim the work is theirs since the watermark is a distraction. He told me one client literally photoshopped out a watermark and used it for a $500 brochure. Now I just send low-res 72dpi proofs instead. Anyone else ditch watermarks for something better?

300 dpi proofs changed the game for me too. It's like how bars stopped using those flimsy paper straws because people just chewed through them, ended up causing more mess than they solved. Same logic applies everywhere now, companies overprotecting stuff just makes people find dumber workarounds. Low res is so much cleaner and clients actually take it seriously.
