I finally stopped blurring my whole portfolio after a guy in Tulsa lifted 6 of my shots
I used to watermark all 40 images in my portfolio because I figured that was just what you do to stop theft. Then a designer in Tulsa hired me last year and flat out told me the watermark was why he almost skipped me. A friend who does music work in Austin pointed out that a big honking mark tells people you expect them to steal. I pulled the marks down to a small corner tag and made a simple license page instead. Now I keep a public log of every license sale, and that log has caught two of the same lifted image sets. Does anyone else find that a clear license sheet does more to stop theft than a watermark ever did?
