Stopped sending full res previews after getting ghosted on a $2k logo project
Used to send high-res watermarked proofs until some guy in Austin just used them as-is for his startup website, now I only send 72dpi jpegs with a giant red overlay and even then I sleep way better at night, anyone else been burned by trusting clients with decent samples?

Wait, isn't 72dpi still good enough to steal for web use?

Ask yourself how many times this actually happens versus how many times you're just scared it might. I've been doing my own thing for 15 years and I've had maybe two people try to pull something shady with samples. Most clients are too busy trying to run their own businesses to bother stealing your work and risking a lawsuit over a $2k logo. You're spending more mental energy on watermark systems and low-res paranoia than you'd lose if someone did actually rip you off once every five years.

Ha! Yeah that's the dark side of "trust but verify" - we've turned into a bunch of digital lock experts because a few people ruined it for everyone. Like how I used to let people borrow my lawnmower and now I can't even lend someone a cup of sugar without thinking they'll start a sugar business with it.
