The 3-strike email template beat my 800-word contract at the 11th hour

Client ghosted me for 2 weeks after getting the final files. I sent my usual polite reminder, nothing. Then I remembered a template a buddy in Austin uses, 3 short emails spaced 3 days apart, each one escalating a little. Third one said "I'll assume you're happy and consider this closed unless you object." They paid within 4 hours. Why do we overthink these things? Has anyone else had a simple script work better than a legal wall of text?
