A bride in Houston told me I was too rough with her hair during a blowout last March
She cried for 10 minutes saying I pulled her scalp and demanded a refund, but I barely touched the brush because her hair was so tangled from three months of no trims, has anyone else had to deal with clients blaming you for their own damage?

and honestly that timeline doesn't quite add up to me. if she went three months without trims and her hair was that tangled, that's on her for not maintaining it, not on you for being "rough." a light brush on severely matted hair is still gonna pull because the tangles are already there, it's basic physics. you can't smooth out a rats nest without some resistance, that's just how hair works. maybe she was just embarrassed about the neglect and needed someone to blame, but that doesn't make it your fault. did she ever admit to not brushing it regularly or was it all just "you hurt me"?

Another angle that nobody's really touched on is that maybe she wasn't embarrassed about the neglect, maybe she was testing him. Some people will let their hair get bad on purpose to see how much abuse or discomfort you're willing to put them through before you snap. It's a weird loyalty test thing. Like, if you really loved her you'd magically untangle it without pain, which just isn't realistic. The fact she jumped straight to "you hurt me" without ever admitting her part in the situation makes it feel less like a health complaint and more like a power move. Your mileage may vary, but that's where my gut goes on this one.
