A client's throwaway comment killed my favorite gloss formula

I used to swear by a certain red gloss that never faded, but a client in Portland said it made her hair feel like straw. I brushed it off at first, then tried it on a mannequin and realized she was right, it was dulling the shine by day 4. Now I mix in a drop of argan oil to the same formula, and three other clients have asked what I changed. Has anyone else had a customer point out something you ignored and later had to own?
