Had a client yesterday who wanted a drastic color change in one session.

She came in with dark box dye and wanted a platinum blonde, but her hair felt pretty damaged. I had to choose between pushing for a multi-session plan or trying a gentler lightener with a bond builder to do it all at once. I went with the single session using Olaplex No.1 in the mix, and while it took 5 hours, the lift was good and the hair feels strong. Would you have tried to talk her into coming back another time or do you think getting it done in one go is fine if you're careful?

Long-term damage? Gray314, my own hair's a cautionary tale.

What about the stuff you don't see right away, like your scalp? I fried mine years ago with cheap bleach and it never really bounced back, gets dry and itchy super easy now. Everyone talks about the hair breaking but they forget the skin under it has to heal too. Makes you wonder if the damage is deeper than just the strands you can touch.

Would you risk the long-term damage?
