Rant: That one week where every toner turned orange on me
I had this nightmare week back in March where I did 4 blonde clients and every single one of them pulled orange after toning. I used the same violet formulas I always use at the salon in Portland. Turned out the new batch of developer we got was old stock from a supplier mix up. Has anyone else had a bad batch of developer mess with their toner results?

I had a similar thing happen a few years back with a batch of 20 volume that made all my toners go brassy no matter what I did. I ended up mixing half a tube of blue into my violet to cancel it out, which was a hot mess but actually worked.

Wait, half a tube of blue into your violet? That's a wild amount of pigment to mix in, how did that not turn your toner into a muddy mess? I gotta hand it to @charlieh74 though, they called it right about blue and violet working better together. You must have been desperate with that bad developer to try something that crazy. I've had bad batches of 20 volume before but never one that made every single toner go brassy no matter what. Mixing blue and violet like that sounds like it would make the formula super thick and hard to spread evenly. At least you got it to work in the end, even if it was a hot mess like you said.

Blue and violet cancel brass better than one alone. Smart fix.
